Description
Vintage Boston Public Library with four US Flags flying situated on one side of the impressively imposing Copley Square (which also houses Trinity Church). The library was designed by the New York firm McKim, Mead, and White and opened in 1895 (a Philip Johnson-designed addition was added in 1972). Noteworthy features include several vast murals by prominent artists, including a series by John Singer Sargent, and an Italian Renaissance-inspired interior courtyard with bubbling fountains and arched pathways.
To the right of the library as you are facing the front entrance, is Old South Church.
The Old South Church in Boston was built in 1874. It is a church of the United Church of Christ in Boston and is also home to one of the oldest religious communities in the US.
Old South Church is a beautiful stone church with northern Italian gothic revival architecture. One can't miss this beautiful site when walking down Boylston Street in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood.
