Description
Common Chaffinch, Fringilla coelebs, female with nut in beak. Although not as distinctive as the male of the species, the female is still a pretty little garden bird with buff brown body and darker wings with black and white flashes. This member of the finch family perches on a mossy bank, reflected in the still water of a tiny pond in the Yorkshire woods.
