Description
Every trip we make to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, we manage to find at least one or several moose, These fellows were peacefully browsing in the bush on a tiny side path off the Cabot Trail when we came across them. I'm sure we were equally startled! They allowed us to sit quietly and take pictures, but the closest one was quite wary and we really felt we were close enough.
The moose is the largest member of the deer family, distinguished by the palmate antlers of the males. Moose typically inhabit boreal and mixed deciduous forests of the Northern Hemisphere in temperate to subarctic climates. Currently, most moose are found in Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia and Russia. Their diet consists of both terrestrial and aquatic vegetation. The most common moose predators are wolves, bears, and humans. Unlike most other deer species, moose are solitary animals and do not form herds. Although generally slow-moving and sedentary, moose can become aggressive and move surprisingly quickly if angered or startled. Their mating season in the autumn can lead to spectacular fights between males competing for the right to mate with a particular female.

With the advent of digital cameras I came to really enjoy photography both as an artistic expression as well as a foundation for capturing interesting and exciting compositions to be painted later.

My recent creative endeavour was graduating from a certified Cosmetology Program (hairstylist and esthetics) in March 2009.
