I was born in 1954. I remember my Mom going to the laundry mat for most of my childhood, not washing at home. It's the wringer that fascinates me most! :) LF

I hope you didn't take my comment as demeaning. I simply never saw a machine like that before even though my family had a washer in the 50s (maybe the 40s, I was too young to notice). It has that cool 50's futuristic design that made the period memorable. Despite the advances in cleaning technology, I'm still waiting for my jet pack.
