Description
When looking up the history of this quilt pattern, I found several articles claiming that quilts with the "carpenter's wheel" pattern were used as part of the code of the Underground Railroad. Slaves that found these quilts hanging on a railing or on a clothes line knew that it signified an escape via wagon was being planned, and to gather supplies and be ready.
This red, white and blue quilt block adds such a splash of color to the beautiful big white barn. Located near Macon, Missouri.
