The world-famous Cabot Trail is a spectacular scenic drive which encircles the northern half of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. Visited annually by tens of thousands of tourists, it has been acclaimed as one of the world's most scenic drives. This view in on the western side of the island, looking south towards the village of Cheticamp on the horizon. The water is the Gulf of St. Lawrence, a vast arm of the Atlantic Ocean.The Trail runs mostly through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and this view is of Cap Rouge (Red Cape) one of a great many mountainous headlands all along the Trail.
