Description
A deep red rose blooms against a dreamy green background. The photo reference was taken in late summer in a garden. This is followed by a careful redrawing, where I rearrange the petals and leaves. This watercolor painting was done with many layers of brilliant transparent color. This is done to obtain the richest most vibrant hues possible. The background is painted in a looser more impressionistic style with a wet in wet technique. I strive for botanical realism with a hint of magic and mystery.
