This is my first piece in my series on Breast Cancer. This series pays homage and tribute to those suffering from breast cancer and also to those who are survivors in any sense of this terrible disease. The goal of the artist is to raise awareness through art for breast cancer, while at the same time expressing, through a newly found channel of creativity, abstract and surreal dimensions, the experiences, troubles, sufferings, joys, and grace that are part of the day to day lives of those afflicted with the condition. To those who also suffer or are survivors of breast cancer, their family members, friends, or anyone set to make a difference in any way, take a look at my gallery and purchase any one piece with which you most feel identified. This particular image, is a wonderful example the use of mixed media in art. Here, I used my fusion of wire sculpture art with fine art photography and in addition applied digital soft painting techniques with GIMP in order to produce this monumentally symbolic abstract image. Represented in the abstract surreal image are two breast, one diseased on the right, and one that remains healthy. The disease process in the affected breast is reflected in dark pink, purple and red twisted shades, with criss crossed lines entangled in webs representing disease, pain, death, darkness. Even though there is still a life process, represented by the green and yellow tones, such process is withering and will soon be overcome. This breast is to be removed to prevent these processes from affecting the rest of the body, including the beautiful healthy breast. The healthy breast is enlightened by green and yellow, representing life.

Beautiful, thought-provoking work! L/F fb Thank you for enabling me to share this on my timeline and increase awareness. My dearest sister-in-law is now in her last days, struggling with this dreadful disease.
