Description
The Bosc pear or Kaiser pear is sometimes referred to as the "aristocrat of pears". It's easy to see why this elegant fruit got its nickname and I really didn't need to do much to dress up this beautiful fruit. It really works well as a classic still life subject. The Bosc pear can be enjoyed raw but its firm flesh holds up well to baking, broiling and poaching. The classic dessert poached pears uses this variety.
On a silly side note: If the Bosc pear sees it's shadow does that mean six more weeks of winter? If so, as long as I have a nice stock of these to eat I'll be all set.
