Description
There are many Ghost Towns in California, we have been to many of them. Bodie is the best preserved ghost town in California. Perhaps the country! Bodie was once a thriving gold mining town with 10000 residents in 1879. Bodie is a ghost town in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California. When we pulled up, we wondered if it was big enough to occupy a whole day. YES IT IS! You could EASILY spend a week exploring here.
As Bodie Historic District, the U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes it as a National Historic Landmark. Since becoming a state historic park in 1962, and receives about 200,000 visitors yearly. Gold discovered at Bodie coincided with the discovery of silver at nearby Aurora, (thought to be in California, later found to be Nevada), and the distant Comstock Lode beneath Virginia City, Nevada.

We really appreciate you stopping by to view our work. Paintings or Photographs of beautiful things, especially those in nature can help you feel better, when you stop and take a few moments to see all the details. It could even surprise you, just how relaxed you can feel after viewing 100 or more images (just try it today) when you take the time for a break. View or scan them carefully noticing details you would not have otherwise seen, and take the time to see a hundred or so images in that manner. Just clicking Next at the top of the page, again, and again. Just breathing slowly as you are taking the time to find details you would not normally have noticed. Breathing slowly as you watch the next page loading, can even be a form of meditatioon or relaxation as you think of the scene or landscaps as if you are actually in that environment. And when you take ten minutes or so to observe them and pay attention to how you are feeling as you do. we know you will enjoy our work, even more, and you can just return whenever you feel like you can use a break... just enjoy them, even more, before long...

Interesting story about the checks..your are right about the treasures, that is in my mining town that the antique children boots that dates about 100+ years were found in the walls of a mining worker's house. They build furniture out of dynamite empty wooden boxs..thanks for sharing that story! :-D

Thanks for all the comments. One thing about Ghost towns we like, are the treasures we find there. Once found an old box, that had several canceled checks in it. If it were not in the desert, they probably would have been totally unreadable. They belonged to someone, the Randsburg Mine had paid for hauling stuff from Los Angeles. Dated in the 1800's/
