Description
This is another painting that originated from the initial demo completed in my Studio. Several of my students painted different arrangement with this blue pot and my intention was to show how different textures could be produced. My painting was forgotten facing the wall in the middle of its development. I've stumbled on it while cleaning the Studio and decided to bring it to completion with the last session. This is the result after cleaning some edges and refining some value and color notes.
Compositionally the painting started from the vertical axle of the pot and projected square to the left as rebatement while reciprocal is to the right. The same Golden Ratio had been projected as the same proportion for the rest of the pictorial plan.
Color scheme is my favorite complementary palette of orange and blue. all other colors are derivations of the starting two. Orange is very aggressive pigment and somewhat complicated to harmonize with the rest of the pigments. Intensity of the hues is crucial for unity and spacial perspective.
Organic forms are repetitive and their orientation and rhythm are components of variety. The same applies to the leaves along the branch that goes in opposite direction than the leading entry from the left.
Blue is the cooling agent in composition and separates the form in temperature more than the form. Many edges are open to the neighboring forms and pictorial background.
Cold North light creates relative warm temperature of the shadows. Highlights on oranges are muted and subdued while ceramic highlights are warmer and bright in order to stand out.
