Description
Dichorisandra thyrsiflora or Blue Ginger is a tropical plant which resembles ginger in growth and habit, but is actually related to the spiderworts (the genus Tradescantia). The plant is native to the tropical woodlands of North, South and Central America, specially in Atlantic Forest vegetation in Brazil. First described by naturalist Johann Christian Mikan in 1823

Indeed Denise, no matter how artists try to to 'upstage' nature, your words: 'Nothing I create could equal the beauty shape and form of nature !' are true, as your splendid photo proves ! :-)

Thank you Hartmut. This year, my blue ginger clumps have bloomed madly and look great amongst all the other green foliage in my gardenThank you for your comment.Hartmut.

Thank you so much for your comment. I value it as I admire your work so much. The ginger grows under a fairly dense canopy in our back yard with filtered light which I have trouble with as during the day the contrast to too strong, so I went for the late afternoon sun slanting under the canopy and it was easier.
