Description
A common theme for artists, the beauty of flowers is worthy of contemplation. My representations possess a sensual, fleshy quality. They can leave you uncertain whether you are looking at the inside of a flower or a human body. The fluid motion used suggests only that you are looking at a living thing. Corolla is a botanical term referring to the inner envelope of floral leaves in a flower. The movement implied in my corolla is slow and fluid, as if the objects have been slowed by the weight of themselves or are in fact underwater. Here begins a connection to the sea and underwater life that is a common theme in my work. Blue corolla could be interpreted as botanical image. Then again, blue corolla could actually represent the interior of a sea sponge.
