A medicinal plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, it grows across parts of North America from Texas in the deep south to portions of Canada on the east coast. Known for its colorful blossoms, its straight tall stalks are common along the roadside. Also referred to as Old Maid's Bonnets, and Quaker Bonnets.
