Description
Billroth II gastrectomy, pill camera view. A Billroth II gastrectomy is a surgical operation performed to treat stomach cancer or severe stomach ulcers. The lower part of the stomach is removed and the remaining part of the stomach is attached to the jejunum, the middle part of the small intestine. The duodenum, the first part of the intestine, is bypassed and sealed off. In this view, the boundary between the stomach lining (left) and jejunum lining (right) is seen. A pill camera is a pill-sized camera swallowed to image the digestive tract.
