The Clock Tower, the north tower of the Houses of Parliament in London, is also known as Big Ben. The nickname was first applied to the main bell of the clock (the Great Bell) but subsequently was popularly applied to the tower as well. Big Ben is the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and the third-tallest free standing clock tower. It was built in 1858.
