Description
This mixed media composite of a night time street scene shows a popular means of transportation in Beijing: the bicycle. I stumbled upon this scene while out walking one night with my family, close to our hotel in Wangfujing. The lighting was just right and I stopped to take the shot with my camera. Years later, as part of my healing meditation practice, I created a painting from the photo and then digitally incorporated some of my favorite batik textiles while enhancing to reveal texture and luminosity of the lights. I then signed this vibrant, colorful piece of artwork in the lower left hand corner. (Please note that the Fine Art America watermark will NOT appear on your final piece).

Beijing is rapidly developing so it's best to try and visit soon before the flavor of an older China gives way to modernization and progress. While in Beijing, you may want to try to see Tian'an Men Square, The Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, the traditional hutongs, old open air markets such as Guanyuan and Panjiayuan, the Ming Tombs, and of course The Great Wall.

Collecting fine art and enjoying it in your home or workplace will bring you many benefits by touching a memory, allowing you to daydream of a time or place beyond your every day reach, giving you a brief vacation from your daily stress and pressures. In the workplace, especially, fine art has been shown to reduce stress, increase creativity and productivity, enhance morale, broaden appreciation of diversity, and encourage open communication. This is why some of the most successful businesses around the world adorn common areas and employee spaces with the beauty of fine art.
