Description
A capture of history, The Bent Elbow in Silverton, Colorado.
Toriginal Bent Elbow was built in 1907 and opened as Fattor's Tremount Saloon. It was home to a bordello upstairs with fourteen beds and was owned by Celeste and Matilda "Big Tillie" Fattor. Numerous owners followed Big Tillie. In 1968, after the building was bought by Effie and her husband, R.M. "Snarky" Andreatta, it was completely destroyed by fire. Effie was a resourceful and enterprising woman, who proceeded to move the Bent Elbow next door into the neighboring Monte Carlo Mercantile which the Andreattas also owned, before the first train of the following season. When Snarky died in 1972, her son Mike Andreatta joined the business and continued to run it until it was sold to the current owners, LeAnn and Pete Maisel.
The Bent Elbow is located in the historic gold and silver mining town of Silverton, Colorado and takes you back in time to the wild era when Silverton was brawling and rowdy with its round-the-clock gambling, drinking and dance hall girls. Silverton is a slice of heaven during each season of the year.
Whether you are a hiker, wildflower aficionado, skier, history buff, jeeping guru, lover of Victorian architecture, mining enthusiast, or just a traveler, Silverton has so much to offer for a day, a week or longer.
Remember, you can stay in Silverton and ride the train to Durango and return to Silverton via bus. And Silverton is also an incredible wedding destination, combining a spectacular mountain setting in any season, affordable accommodations for all your guests, a full compliment of facilities, services, music and catering. The Bent Elbow offers it all under one roof!
