Description
On a wing and a prayer….
Winter 1943 and a lone Lancaster limps home across the Yorkshire countryside. With a persistent fire in No 1 engine and other combat damage the crew fight their way back after a long 8 hr mission deep into Continental Europe. An episode repeated many times as the RAF intensified the night bomber offensive.
Title from an old WW2 song ….…‘there’s one motor gone - we can still carry on, coming in on a wing and a prayer’…………..probably US in origin as the RAF would be most unlikely to refer to an engine as ‘motor’!

Loving all the shades of grey. I can just heard the roar of the engines as the sound bounces off the earth just "inches" under the plane.
