writ on water
outside in the cold
i am seeking inspiration from the moon
but being coy
she plays hide and seek with the clouds
just like the muse
who peeks at me around corners
and laughing
pokes her head out from under the bed
my heart is full of secrets
i would like to share
the essential me i have been saving
just for you
but the words will not be captured
so i sit here
sadly silent
as what cannot be expressed
spills over the dam
a swiftly-rushing river
emptying into the ocean of the night
