Description
We saw this grizzly while doing a backpack in Denali National Park in Alaska. There are no real trails there but you follow the river courses along wide gravel bars. Mostly the bears are feeding in the tundra getting ready for the long winter sleep. An icy wind and sleet told us that winter was just around the corner. Denali is one of those places that makes me feel awe and exultation as well humble awareness that there are places that are big enough for bear and wolf, moose, raven and caribou to live and thrive.

I like the different directions that you have embedded in just about every element of this lovely batik. The tree leaning into the composition, the stream leading the viewer in the opposite direction, the white mountains hinting of more beyond the painting...and look at that sky!!!! How amazing that you got a glimpse into the world of the grizzly (and came home to talk about it!)

Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colours flowers, so does art colour life. -- Congratulations on your recent sale of a wonderful work
