"A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

This view is from the garden of Kauai Aadheenam, or as it is also known, Kauai's Hindu Monastery. The beautiful trees with the distinctive flat-topped profile and graceful foliage are called Moluccan Albiza. They were brought to Hawaii in the late 19th century as part of reforestation efforts. It was native to New Guinea and the surrounding islands. It is referred to as the "miracle tree" for the speed of it's growth. It may be the fastest growing tree in the world. Some native Hawaiians are ok with this, and some are not!
