Description
Angel Wings are the largest of the boring clams and, despite their fragile appearance, are able to bore to a meter or more in mud and hard clay. By closing and opening their adductor muscles, the shell rocks back and forth using its anterior edge as a cutting edge. Angel Wings live intertidally or in shallow water, but easily accessible beds are becoming scarce because of over collecting. You can also find the color print of this shell in William Conklin's Gallery.
