Took original photo of this beautiful blue gold macaw parrot when my grandkids and I went to the zoo. The handler of this bird stopped when he saw the camera in my hands. We moved forward and the handler shared the story of this particular bird rescue. The bird was taken from an neglectful home. He had almost no feathers when he arrived at the zoo habitat. The parrot was nervous and in ill health. Since, living at the zoo, the handler says that the rescued macaw was progressing well. As you can see, his feather are returning. He is talking a little and is adjusting to his new home. I was surprised to learn that most of the beautiful macaws came to the zoo through need of a home and rehabilitation.
