It is truly a sign of spring when the fragrant crabapple trees that we have in front of house begin to bloom. The trees become a mass of white and the other is a mass of maroon colored flowers.
Flowering crabapple trees are very popular early March flowering trees for large landscape gardens. The distinctive fluffy, cottony flowers completely encircle leafless branches with single or double stacked blooms that vary in colors of white, pink and red. Shiny, tiny green leaves may appear within the globular clusters of flowers soon after the flowers appear, and rapidly increase in length as the flowers fade.
