Description
Plasma cell, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). This section has revealed the cell's large central nucleus (brown). Surrounding this is large amounts of rough endoplasmic reticulum (blue layers). Plasma cells, which are found in the blood and lymph, are mature B lymphocytes (white blood cells) that produce and secrete antibodies during an immune response. Magnification x6000 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
