Description
Old Harbor Lifesaving Station, Cape Cod National Seashore, was built in 1897 as a part of the U.S. Life Saving Service. The station, transferred to the United States Coast Guard in 1915, the station originally overlooked Nauset Beach, near the entrance to Chatham Harbor, Chatham, Massachusetts. Threatened by beach erosion, the station was moved to its current location on Race Point Road outside Provincetown, MA, in 1977. The Old Harbor Life Saving Station is now a National Park Service (NPS) museum.
