The Chestnut St. is a huge and ancient chestnut copy of which is located in an area known as the Boat Hole in the Sierra Real in Istan. It is probably the oldest tree in the whole province of M�laga. Its age is estimated at around eight hundred and one thousand years old.
A 1.30 m above the ground the perimeter is 15 m while slashing ground level 22 meters. Has a total height of 24.5 m while the height of the shaft is 2.5 meters. The diameter of the cup is in the NS direction of 27.40 m while in the EW direction is 23.70 meters. The projected area of the cup is of 510,02 m�.
Legend has it that in the mountains in which this ancient tree is great deeds proliferated throughout history. Among them we can highlight the Moorish rebellion in Sierra Bermeja in the early sixteenth century. Under its branches, in 1501, King Ferdinand held a mass. Legend has it that in sentences called for a delay of twilight, to encourage a stealthy arrival of the troops to Marbella.
