Description
This piece has been featured in the FAA Group "Beauty of this World ...".
Annual plants, very easy to grow from seed. The flower was named after Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727-1759). Flowers of the Zinnia are found in a multitude of shapes and sizes. Most common are the multi-petaled ball shaped blossoms and the daisy shaped blossoms. Blossom sizes range from 1/2 inch across to 3 inches across. Zinnias are a wonderful, highly colorful mass flower for summer arrangements.
Zinnia elegans Whirlygig Mix is fascinating. This mix features large 3-4.5 inch fully double semi-cactus blooms. A gorgeous mixture of bizarre bicolor patterns. Color range includes yellow-crimson, red-white, pink-white, also cream-rose, bronze-red and many other nice colors. This has a combination of reds, whites, yellows, pinks, and oranges. They are heat-loving plants. Zinnias bloom during that part of summer when many other flowers have finished from late July until your first frost. Grows to 24-28 inches tall.
These vibrant zinnia flowers are ideal for attracting bees and butterflies to your garden and also make an attractive cut flower for a vase indoors.
