Bone marrow, light micrograph. The large blue cells are megakaryocytes, which form platelets. Dark purple cells are erythroplastic islets, which form red blood cells. Pale purple cells are granulocyte islets, which give rise to white blood cells. Also seen are red reticular supporting cells. Magnification x150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
