Get ready to experience a series of exercises that will help you move beyond the image to create a personal non-objective language. Playing with paint, pencils, and collage you will transform recognizable iconography into a series of lines, shapes or spaces to create balanced and dynamic compositions. *Artists are asked to bring personal imagery or a theme to work with.

Deny the world of digital art and dive back into the world of visceral and expressionistic mark making. Playing with pastels, paint and graphite you will engage in a series of exercises that will help you creative luscious layers, textures, and techniques within your own art practice.

In a world where appropriation and repetition are the norm, set aside an afternoon to reconnect with your ability to create something new. Join me in my studio to participate in a series of exercises that require you to trust in what you know and push through the unfamiliar. Playing with paint, pencils, and collage you will arrive at ironic still-lifes, surreal landscapes, and whimsical creatures.

Drop your pens, pencils, and brushes to explore a variety of techniques using nothing but your hands, scissors and paper. During the afternoon you will create a series of non-objective and abstract pieces utilizing patterns, text, shapes, folding, tearing, layering, and cutting.
