Opening Reception of “Snap, Click: A Life in Photographs” a Group Photography Show With Works From: Fine Artists, Commercial Director, Former A & M Record Photographer, an Actor and a KCRW DJ.

Featuring: Moshe and Eddie Brakha aka BrakhaX2, Mark Hanauer, Anthony Valadez, Jason London, Paul Giunta, Joanna Brooks, Lela Edgar and Mary Hanson. With KCRW DJ spinning a set.
Exhibition open to the public from July 13th through August 10th, 2013.

The Gabba Gallery is quickly becoming the new destination contemporary gallery for collectors, art lovers and celebrities. Curators: Jason Ostro and Jaime Becker carefully selected a strong list of photography that showcases a diverse group of voices, vision and technique in photography. The photographers vary from established artists who show in museums, editorial, billboards and commercials such as Mark Hanauer and BrakhaX2 and emerging like Mary Hanson and KCRW DJ - Anthony Valadez and actor- Jason London.  

The Gabba Gallery is an exciting new contemporary art gallery that refuses to define itself has already been aligned with such wonderful sponsors as; Ips Natural Chips, Huberts Lemonade and Societe Perrier.

“Snap, Click: A Life in Photographs” is expecting a big influx of tastemakers to attend. The Gabba Gallery is becoming the go to gallery for young Hollywood who appreciate culture.

“Visitors feel like they are on the cusp of a new cultural art renaissance. There is a palpable energy here,” says artist, Andrea LaHue aka Random Act who shows at the gallery.

What to expect at the show. Moshe Brakha and Eddie Brakha aka BrakhaX2, “We challenge ourselves to create smart art, something that jumps out at you. Everything has to be dimensional for us, the visual, the message, the dream. We are inspired by the world of social criticism and the cartoonist and strive to bring that kind of wit and intellect into our work.” Their works are vibrant and bold. They have shot for Dewar’s, America’s Next Top Model, Air Walk, Skyy Vodka, Martini and Rossi, EA, Adidas, Tullamore Dew Best Buy, Motorola and countless others. They have photographed celebrities ranging from Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hanks, Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Jobs, George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Alyssa Milano, Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, and a host of other luminaries. Their works have been featured in Entertainment Weekly, Details, Newsweek, and Condé Nast Traveler.  In addition to their commercial notoriety, their work has expanded with the creation of multiple original art series’ and public art pieces. In 2004, Moshe joined forces with son Eddie Brakha to form the father + son team of BrakhaX2 for their company Commercial Head Films.

\\\"The primary objective in creating successful work is mining the innate emotion within the visual problem,\\\\\\\" says Mark Hanauer. He has shot for magazines like New York, Rolling Stone, GQ, Vanity Fair, Men\\\\\\\'s Fitness, Nike, Adidas, Paramount, Rolling Stone, GQ, and 20th Century Fox. Most recently he had a solo exhibition at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California.

Anthony Valadez, a DJ heard on Monday Nights on 89.9 FM KCRW has been snapping photos on his musical journeys and walking adventures. He has a wonderful eye; just like he has an amazing ear. This is his first professional showing of his works.

Jason London strives to capture honesty and raw emotional truth both in his acting and in his photography. His photography philosophy is to keep the work untouched and use only real world natural light. Looking through his lens is an extension into Jason’s mind.

Paul Giunta, “Something about freezing a moment, an expression, or a thought in time captured my imagination.” His work has been featured in Rolling Stone, TIME, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Los Angeles Magazine, People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Music Radar, JustinTimberlake.com, LA Weekly, KCRW’s Music Blog, and Prefix Magazine.  Clients include Kraft Foods, MTV Networks, IBM, La Poste, Subversive Jewelry, Trixy Starr, and Livewell 360.

Joanna Brooks turned to photography about 10 years ago and now makes a living as an LA based photographer specializing in natural light photography depicting celebrities and their homes. Her photos have been featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and their website. She challenged herself for this show with shooting vastly different images of city life.

Lela Edgar’s work has been published in the Huffington Post, The Sun Magazine and the new Occupy website. She is the exclusive photographer for the band, J & the 9’s. Her work in front of the camera inspired her relationship being behind it. She has devoted time to hone her craft by working in an array of areas to constantly have fresh inspiration to pull from with authenticity that demands attention.

Mary Hanson, an emerging artist, travels and collects images of moments that define what it means to be human. She uses real natural light. Her energy and joy of life show in her work.
