Atlanta Georgia Pastel Landscape Workshop

This workshop.will be held at the Atlanta Artist Center located in Buckhead ... just off Pharr Rd. / Peachtree Street. This organization has been one of the top art associations for over 50 years in Atlanta.

The class will be for those interested in learning how to use pastels, or for advanced pastel artists to learn how to raise their art to the next level. We will discuss value and temperature, how to design the painting, and techniques for creating the scene from a photograph as if you were outdoors from life.

THE WORKSHOP will consist of instruction on composition, thumbnail sketches, value,
temperature, and color theory. We will discuss painting from photographs, and how to make a painting look as if painted on location. Each attendee will be given hands on attention and instruction. It is an exciting 3 day exploration of form and color using pastel pigments.

A demonstration will start the day on Friday morning. We will discuss quickly creating a thumbnail sketch to work from, blocking in the darks and lights, finding the colors and developing the painting. You will not necessarily finish each painting. This class is not to paint a pretty painting from start to finish – but how to plan and start properly with less problems and better results.
