Contest Rules
To Frida Kahlo still lifes are “living nature”. She always rejects the “dead” connotations of “Naturaleza Muerta” (Still Life).
She politicized her still lifes by adding flags, inscriptions and peace doves.
Kahlo’s still lifes “are as reflective of her internal reality as are her self-portraits,” writes Grimberg, a psychoanalytic art historian.
