Contest Rules

Koi - All MediumsThe word koi comes from Japanese, simply meaning 'carp.' It includes both the dull grey fish and the brightly colored varieties. What are known as koi in English are referred to more specifically as nishikigoi in Japan (literally meaning 'brocaded carp'). In Japanese, koi is a homophone for another word that means 'affection' or 'love'; koi are therefore symbols of love and friendship in Japan.

So, in the spirit of friendship, especially this time of year, please submit YOUR BEST image of these colorful aquatic beauties. Goldfish and other aquarium fish ARE NOT KOI!

This contest is juried. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE JUDGES FOR SOLICITATION OF VOTES. NO REP OR AGENT IS TO SUBMIT FOR YOU! Thanks! Any image that does not adhere to the rules will be deleted without notification.

Family friendly as if I have to add this...

The photo for the contest logo was taken at the Byodo-In Temple on Oahu. It is in my gallery and titled 'Koming Up Koi.'
