In the Book of Judges (4:4-21), following an Israelite victory, the Canaanite General Sisera flees, takes shelter in the tent of Yael, a nomad woman, and asks her for water. Instead, she pours him milk from a jug, and while he sleeps she drives a tent-pin through both his temples, killing him. This abstract oil on canvas shows the milk jug, Sisera's helmet and the lethal tent-pin, all connected by muted colors that evoke a dream-like sequence moving between brightly-lit battlefield to the dark and bloodied interior of Yael's tent.
