What Kind of Art Sells Best

Edgy art has a limited audience in conservative Grants Pass, Oregon. It seems that people want "feel good" art. As a photographer some of my images are not pretty. I know another artist that is very edgy and can make some feel "uncomfortable." I always thought art was supposed to evoke an emotional response, be it "good" "bad" or "indifferent" (maybe ambiguous would be a better adjective). I suppose "art" is in the eye/ touch of the beholder. Thanks for posting your thoughts. Marie
