TBT....a 48 x 36 inch oil on canvas from Georgetown when I lived in the DC area as a 23-year-old. I was working as an illustrator but wasn't ready to settle down in a specific location...I remember my boss telling me, "James, this is where we see you at 30 and this is where you'll be at 40...." That scared me since I really hadn't seen anything or been anywhere yet. I was on a plane to live overseas shortly afterwards. All I remember is my boss asking me when he learned of my plans...."but how will you pay taxes over there?...." The most I remember about DC is the insane traffic, the beautiful autumns and springs, and all the lawyers one could ever hope to meet. As I recall, I had just seen a Bonnard/Vuillard show in New York and this probably led to the rather post-impressionistic attempt here on the left.
