My Top 20 List

I did a lot of research to find the best places to sell art online. I scoured artist forums (wetcanvas.com is one of THE best), read countless articles (and the comments) and did multiple google searches.
In the end, I came up with a list of about 20 or so websites that can show and/or sell your art. Find that list here...on another blog post.

I checked them all out. There were only about 10 that could do everything I needed. "Everything" meaning...the site will showcase, do billing, printing, packaging, shipping and returns. The artist uploads the images and the site basically does the rest. Oh wait...if only it were that simple. I am finding out the hard way that it is NOT that simple.

Once I found those 10 or so, I had to compare them to see what was the most bang for my buck, so to speak. There were many factors to consider, including: reviews, commission, base prices, shipping, ease of use, popularity, products offered, etc.

Some sites that I thought would be clear winners, were not. One of those is art.com, or artistrising.com. Reviews from artists were not so good. Another one that surprised me was cafepress.com...again, poor reviews from artists and only a paltry 5% commission.

So, who were my big winners? Read on...
