The very heart of a candid street photograph

One of my interests in photography is the "candid" urban portrait. I am more than less an impassive observer meaning I do not talk to my subjects. Styles vary for this type of informal portrait...from the in your face type of street photographer (see Bruce Gliden), to the stop and chat street photographer, to my type the impassive observer of the human scene.

We American street photographers have it good since it is legal for us to take pictures of people in the "public domain." In many countries around the world this type of photographer is either forbidden or much frowned upon.

I am proud to be an American urban photographer working in the public domain.

I am very pleased with the image I present here. It is spontaneous and heartfelt by the participants and the photographer (me).
