I believe I was born with artistic talent and could draw ever since I could hold a pencil. I sold quite a bit through high school but decided to give up my dream job of an Art Therapist for teaching. After 25 years of teaching in Special Education, and recently getting my art certification, I teach art to students with autism and other disabilities. So, although I never was formally trained, I managed to keep "art" as a hobby, a side business and now integrated it into my daily work!

A familiar story...I have enjoyed art since very young as well & declared a Fine Art major in college; but my parents insisted I reconsider a major that could earn me a living. We agreed a double major was a fair compromise. With a degree in Econ & Fine Art, I entered the workforce; but art took a back seat to career & raising 4 children. Ten years ago, I reengaged with my love of art thanks to a gift from my daughter for art lessons. I have been drawing & painting nights & weekends since.

I too was frustrated the years I spent raising a family and working. I very nearly "gave up" on art, and creating. But my desire to create could not be quenched, no matter how many times it was on the back burner. Today I am retired, and I paint and create every day. Often it happens this way, but the best comes for those who wait.
