The Faces Project at Maryland Heights Centre

The Faces Project has teamed up with local St. Louis artist, to paint portraits of children who lost their lives to gun violence. These portraits are donated to the victim's family. The Faces Project is exhibiting these powerful portraits at Maryland Heights Community Center June 1 through June 27,2014. Christine Ilewski started the project in May of 2008 when a dear friend, Fr. Lorenzo Rosebaugh was gunned down in Guatemala. Christine says, " I want to help families process their grief, and as a painter, this is my way of doing that." Christine teamed up with Maryland Heights resident, Jane Linders, who helped widen the scope of the project to include area St. Louis artists.

The Maryland Heights Cultural Arts Commission strives to increase appreciation and involvement in the arts to enhance their diverse community by bringing The Faces Project to the community center.
