The Dog and His Man

I will share just a bit of history on the Artist with whom I live with today. Grant relocated to the Pacific Northwest from England, to be with yours truly. He had never been to the United States nor had he been married before or had children of his own. He basically packed up, leaving his many friends and family, crossed the pond and began a new life with his love and her three children. Now that takes real guts!

While waiting patiently for his green card to come through, and unable to work legally, he passed his time attending to all domestic chores, mending fences, maintaining a large house and yard and painting. It was quite a lonely time for the artist as he had no friends or acquaintances yet and the culture shock was great. Through this adjustment time he had one soul mate that never left his side. That would be Hercules, the apricot toy poodle, guardian of the household.

Hercules had quite the reputation in the neighborhood due to his extreme social nature. Because he disliked being home alone, and his life-long master was away at college, he became an escape artist. He roamed the neighborhood and local elementary school seeking out playmates and entertainment. This got him into trouble on occasion and added to the mayhem of my life.

When the Artist arrived, Herky's life changed.

Hercules and the Artist became inseparable. Together they weathered the storms and celebrated monumental moments. Hercules never strayed far again and the Artist thrived in the new place he now calls home.
