The best camera is the one in your hand

The best camera is the one you have in your hand. I saw this once and it stuck with me. I have also seen and read many artists' strong opinions about the best cameras to use; usually Nikon or Canon. I actually get asked this by other photographers a lot. It surprises me that people feel so strongly about the type or make of the camera I use. They are surprised that I have chosen neither as my go to camera, but one that uses a historically better lens. They are even more surprised when they know that some of my best photos were taken with my point and shoot or even, yes, my iPhone!

Photography, I have come to learn, is not about the tool, but what I see all the time. I walk down the street and I see things that I want to capture. I drive to work and long to stop and capture the landscape or long horn cows in the field, or the way the sun is hitting the horizon, or a pattern that I see, or how the clouds are in the sky. And sometimes, a lot of times, I don't have my 'professional' camera. Ahhhh... I have also been told that I should always carry this. "Only true photographers do." Well... I'm a mom, and I often have several other things that trump my camera. And sometimes, I just don't want to carry it. So, enjoy my point and shoot images as well as my iPhone shots, and try to guess which were taken with those or with my "photographer's" camera. And I will look into the iPhone 6 cam, cause I hear it's awesome!
