The art of art, a realm of realms.

The art of art, a realm of realms.

Art, the act of creating, the result of creating, a skill of a sort. We won't get into semantics, but just say, there is no reason for it to be repetitive or locked into a certain realm per say. A realm like music is huge, you could get lost in it forever, and there is not enough lifetimes to explore it all. Same with videos or any art form, the artist can specialize further and further, attempting perfection in an imperfect world. There is nothing wrong with that and a person can reach unheard of heights of creativity and results by specializing or focusing on one aspect.

Or an artist could be more exploring and try different things, and of course some artists may choose to do some of both. This brings me to my newest deviation of digital art. I find it similar to playing the bass guitar, easy to learn, but hard to master. But unlike the guitar, there is a lot of randomness and hit and miss.

Like any art form, it is easy to overrate or underrate the method depending on results. What I mean is, two different pieces of art might be equally appealing, but one was quick and easy, or lucky per say and the other took great time and effort, yet the quality of the end product is basically equal.

Regardless of methods, I am pleased with some of the results from using an inexpensive point and shoot camera for some bird and nature photography and some software called Apophysis to create some digital art. These are only tools, required for certain results, results of which I often find pleasing.

A good example of simple digital art but with some extra thoughts such as getting a good picture of a cardinal, and importing the colors from certain parts into the editor to create exacting colors is the Redbird Blossom.

I think fixed visual art should be pleasing on the eye, and of course match the decor, however I am a beginner in many ways, yet I understand how subjective art is. The saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. The emotions a work of art gives are important, if the art strikes some kind of feeling or inspiration, then it can surely be called art.

One interesting discovery for me, is how the brain tries to make sense out of randomness and assign a pattern or a recognizable object to it. Such is the case with the exploding turkey. Perhaps if I didn't say turkey, you may have recognized it as something else, but I believe your mind would have attempted to “figure” out what it is.

Art is not limited to putting on the wall and looking at. While this gives the art the attention it deserves, there are other mediums to display it. Art can go anywhere. They say advertising fills a void, why not art? Put art on cloths, clocks, lampshade, dinner plates, towels and anything that the art can be applied on.

A few words about music and enjoyment of it, from a blog at: http://www.rybird.com/blog/music-is-music/

If I am listening to the music and thinking about how it was made, or if the vocals are coming in too late, or that the kick drum is too loud, and notice the song is too long, etc, then I am not enjoying the music as it was meant to be. I feel music is not to be judged any more than a pine tree or an oak tree.

We don’t admire a might oak tree by saying to ourselves , the branches at the top are too close together and that tree is wider and the leaves are darker green on that tree. Have you ever seen a perfect tree? The imperfections give the tree the personality and uniqueness that make that tree perfect in it’s own right.

Music is the same way. I enjoy the music for how it makes me feel, or dream, or perhaps it gives me energy and makes me want to dance. It’s just music, not something to criticize, although it happens all the time. Proof of not listening to music properly is criticism. I can discriminate what kind of music I want to listen to by how it makes me feel, but unless I am trying to learn more about music structure or theory, I should not worry how it was created or the actual structure of it. That is how I feel it should be.

There are as many opinions about music, art, photography, and what they are or are not, how they relate or don't as there are people. I feel that creativity has kept me in better spirits and am thankful for any opportunities and hope to continue.
