.'Sylvester' is the first in a series of domestic animal paintings of the farm country where I grew up; this is an acrylic painting using a glazing technique. The subject in this painting is of a rooster who in real life has a bossy attitude, a stern look, and goes by the name Sylvester. I wanted to paint this fella because of his strong character and presence; moreover, I wanted my first painting in this series to be a recognizable symbol of the farm. It can be viewed in person at the Strata Gallery in Salem, Ontario, just west of Guelph, Ontario.
