Stained Glasses That All Passionate Glass Artists Use For Creating Wonders

Stained glass art is an art form that has been in use for years now. However, with the passage of time, this form of art has undergone changes by leaps and bounds. Today, stained glass art is no longer confined to ancient cathedrals or huge mansions. They have become a feature of many households owing to their sophisticated appeal.

Glass artists throughout the globe have strived hard to take this form of art to a new level with extremely elegant designs. However, before a glass artist goes ahead with creating designs on stained glass, knowledge of their various types becomes essential. Stained glasses come in a myriad of types which find use in even more varied types of spaces. A passionate stained glass artist uses the following types of stained glasses for creating art wonders:

1. Cathedral Glass: This type of glass is usually transparent which makes them very popular. The textures of these glasses vary widely, the two most common of them being single coloured tints and marine textures. Cathedral glass can be layered to give an intricately colourful look.

2. Streaky Glass: This glass is an amazing mixture of two colours and is textured just like cathedral glass and is translucent. The two colours are opalescent which gives this type of glass a rich and complex touch.

3. Opalescent Glass: This type of stained glass is considered to be the best of all types. Opalescent glasses usually come in a single colour but when more than one colour is used, a huge variation in patterns can be seen. These glasses are translucent but objects on the other side cannot be seen sometimes.

4. Wispy Glass: Wispy glasses are similar to opalescent and cathedral glasses and are a mixture of two different colours. The difference between them is seen in the amount of light that is allowed to pass through them. These glasses can create an excellent effect when light passes through them.

5. Bevels: Bevel glasses are included in the accent pieces which are between the large stained glass pieces. Interesting borders can be created with these glasses. Many glass artists in fact used bevels to create one whole art piece. They have thick edges and reflect a great deal of light.
