Selling artwork online and to private clients

Getting that first on line sale can be grueling. The reviews and interests of other VISITORS can help one target the particular pieces or works that may be of greatest interest to a buying public. Another approach I have started to use is contacting a particular segment of the audience and offering them the opportunity to view the actual product in person for up to 15 days free of charge. I recently completed a commissioned piece after taking twice to the clients home and letting her "live with it" for several days. When I returned it the last time with the changes she requested , she was delighted and wrote out the check for the full amount we had agreed upon on the spot. I am photographing various works in progress to use as demonstration pieces for srticles and group teaching sessions. This allows opportunities for the audience or the student to see how the painting "unfolds"

What a great idea Patricia. I usually supply my customers with work in progress photos if it is the commission art. Then I make a little movie about how the artwork was created and place some music on the background. The customers are usually delighted not only with the finished artwork; but, because they were also involved in the creative process. Cheers! Irina http://www.artirina.com/
