Love them or loath them, Leica have just launched the M-P 'Correspondent' http://tinyurl.com/oof5pz7 designed by of all people a rock star. Lenny Kravitz better known for his 90s hits 'Let Love Rule' and 'Mamma Said' etc, has embarked on a collaboration with the father of cameras Leica, to produce a 'worn in' brassed looking camera, which to all intent and purposes is designed to sell a dream.
So now you too can wander around with that 'I'm a seasoned photojournalist' look with a battle scarred camera hanging around your neck, less the dents and taped up bits. Or whilst sipping a pastis on the Rive Gauche in Paris, pretending that you have just returned from some hair raising assignment.
However, whilst those of you who wish to embark on a pseudo career as a photojournalist equipped with all the bells and whistles less any credibility, it might be worth pointing out that you ought to have had a previous career as a rock or film star as this latest offering by Leica will set you back a whopping $24,000. But hurry, there are only 125 on offer presented in a super special leather case.
Baptism of Fire: a freelancer's behind the scenes look at covering areas of conflict is now available from Amazon as an e-book and no, you do not require a Kindle. http://tinyurl.com/l57rqa6
"Theo liasi has written an honest, no frills account of life as a war photographer. His was the reality of a freelancer with no one to cover his back. His conclusion Is surprisingly funny given the subject matter. Well worth the read especially if you are contemplating a career in this area"
