Scotland! Back recently for a second visit in five years. This time we did a clockwise circuit of the northern Highlands: Inverness and Black Isle; remote Gairloch on the west coast; the fishing port of Ullapool; then right across the top of the country past the northernmost point of the UK mainland to Thurso (named by its Viking founders after the god Thor), then across and down the northeast coast back to Inverness. It rained a lot — pretty much standard for that part of the world — but that didn't often mar the breathtaking scenery, the good (though often single-track) roads, and white sand beaches with almost Caribbean-looking waters of the north coast. Sometimes the rapidly-changing weather provided great photographic contrasts.
Some of these pictures should please those who know and love the wildness of the Highlands, so please order prints!
The images uploaded so far are just a sample: more will be available over the coming days and weeks. If you're interested in rights-managed purchase rather than prints, please visit http://mediaworkshop.photoshelter.com/gallery/Scotland/G00007T1OPsZPtc8/C0000rNsX_HY5mL0.
